The Cranberries have shared information about their new album, which will put an end to the existence of the group. As reported on the band’s Facebook page, the disc was named “In the End” and will be released in 2019. According to the musicians, the idea of his recording appeared in early 2017 during the rehearsals of the “Something Else” tour. Then there was almost a year of work, and in December 2017 Dolores O’Riordan recorded vocals for 11 songs. It was planned to complete the recording in early 2018, but on January 15 the lead singer of the group was found dead in her London room.
“After the devastating and unexpected departure of Dolores in January 2018, we took time out and postponed all the plans,” her colleagues wrote. – Over time, we began to think about how best to honor our close friend and teammate. It was a very painful process. We remembered how Dolores was thrilled by the prospect of making this recording and returning on tour to play live songs. We realized that the most important thing to do is to finish the album that we started with it. We felt: this is what she would like. We talked with the Dolores family, and they agreed. ”
According to the participants of The Cranberries, the work was not easy for them:
“It was a very emotional process for us. Knowing that we can never play these songs in person has complicated the task. There was also an overwhelming feeling that this is the last time that we will work together on the album The Cranberries in the same studio. ”
The album will be dedicated to Dolores. The first single, “All Over Now”, will be released on January 15, 2019, on the first anniversary of O’Riordan’s death. The release date for the album “In the End” will be announced later.
